Small or uneven breasts are caused by congenital abnormalities, surgical intervention, trauma, postpartum volume loss and weight loss.
IN MODERN SOCIETY THERE IS A GROWING NEED FOR WOMEN TO IMPROVE THEIR SELF-ESTEEM AND SOCIAL IMAGE. THE FACT THAT THE FEMALE BREAST IS...
...A FOCAL POINT OF ATTRACTIVENESS, IS THE MAIN REASON THAT WOMEN SHOULD SEEK THE ADVICE OF A SPECIALIST WHO DEFINITELY IS A PLASTIC SURGEON.
Silicone is a substance like gel that is very well tolerated and accepted within the human body. The body isolates the implant through forming a thin membrane around it made out of connective tissue. All allegations that silicone implants are responsible for cancer have been proven completely wrong.
A silicone implant resembles a small bag with a thick outer layer which has a content of liquid silicone or cohesive silicone which is more jelly and even if the implant is punctured, it doesn't spill out.
Silicone implants come in two different shapes: round and tear drop shaped, and of course they come in many different volume sizes to accommodate every need. They are sterilized under gamma radiation, sealed and opened only in the operation room.
During consultation a full medical history is taken and double checked again before the day of the surgery. The surgeon along with the patient will decide about the size of the breast and discuss every single detail of the procedure. On the day of the operation each patient has to undergo a routine blood test, be counseled by the anesthetic team and by a specialist if necessary. Finally a written consent and some preoperative photographs will be taken along with the final drawings by the surgeon.
The incision is 3 cm in length and can be situated in the inframammary fold, in the border between the areola and the skin of the breast (periareolar incision) or in the axillary fold.
The positioning of the implant is decided by the doctor and the patient during the consultation and could be behind the breast, behind the pectoralis major muscle or behind the fascia of the pectoralis major fascia (subfascial placement).
The correct surgical placement of the implant ensures no problems with lactation, nipple sensation and breast monitoring through a mammography.
The operation is performed under general anesthesia and lasts about 2 hours. There are intradermal stitches that need to be removed not earlier than 2 weeks postoperatively. A tight sports brassiere should be worn by the patient for 20 to 30 days. The patient needs to avoid exercise, heavy work or swimming for 7 to 10 days after the operation.
