These women have a tendency to avoid social events and physical activities. Also, they are often found to gain in weight easily. The contribution of plastic surgery in these cases can be decisive. The breasts can be completely altered, reduced in size and repositioned on the chest wall resembling that of what they used to be at the end of puberty.

The operation

This operation is performed under general anesthesia and lasts about 2 to 3 hours. Postoperatively the patient stays in hospital for one night only and wears a sports brassiere for one month. They need to avoid exercise, heavy work and swimming for 7 to 10 days postoperatively. Usually the patients that undergo this type of operation note that it was not even close to how difficult they had expected it to be and had they known that beforehand, they would have chosen to have it done much earlier.
